Housing for HIV / AIDS Women and Children
| The New Phoenix Assistance Center operates a scattered-site transitional housing program for homeless women, infected with HIV and/or diagnosed with AIDS and their children. The apartments are fully furnished. In addition, the New Phoenix Assistance Center, case manages the whole family and provides other supportive services ; such as helping our clients get their GED or assist the clients in re-entering their children in school. The New Phoenix Assistance Center also tries to help its clients re-establish links with family and friends in order to reacquire the support network they may have lost. The atmosphere at New Phoenix Assistance Center is very family oriented. Twice monthly, all New Phoenix Assistance Center clients meet in our conference area for educational seminars : ranging from everything, like the latest information on HIV/AIDS issues to alternative therapy, to discuss the program and share resources, and to just chat and exchange life experiences with each other. |
| Outreach and Prevention for Runaway / Throwaway Youth The New Phoenix Assistance Center operates Runaway / Throwaway youth program to address the need for support services for teens on the streets. Who ran away or were discarded by their family and/or support network, yet avoided entering the State ward system. In Due to the prevalent risks this lifestyle created, New Phoenix Assistance Center, started the outreach and engagement program to help this population obtain STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) prevention information, and help the teens access resources unknown to them which could help stabilize their lives. |
| Housing for the Homeless The New Phoenix Assistance Center operates a scattered-site transitional housing program for the homeless. The apartments are fully furnished. The New Phoenix Assistance Center, houses not only single clients but also houses whole homeless families. In addition to housing, New Phoenix Assistance Center provides case management for the client and their family, and other supportive services. The atmosphere at New Phoenix Assistance Center is very family oriented. Twice monthly, all New Phoenix Assistance Center clients meet in our conference area for educational seminars : ranging from family planning and parenting, to proper nutrition. The conferences also allow the clients to exchange resources and information, and to exchange life improvements with eath other. The goal of this program is to aid the client to achieve self-sufficiency within two years. |
