MISSION STATEMENT

The New Phoenix Assistance Center is a 501(c) non-profit organization located on the South-side of Chicago.

Our Mission is to provide quality scatter-site, transitional housing for those who are homeless.

Currently,
New Phoenix Assistance Center, focus is on three major programs :

1.) The first program is transitional housing for homeless women, infected with HIV or diagnosed with AIDS, and their children.

2.) The second program is outreach and prevention for runaway / throwaway youth.

3.) The third program is transitional housing for anyone who is homeless or in immediate danger of becoming homeless.

In addition to these programs,
New Phoenix Assistance Center, provides case management and other supportive services that are necessary to maintain a high quality of life, self determination, and independence in under-served community areas.

The goal of
New Phoenix Assistance Center is to help our clients reestablish their dignity, their independence, and their support network through which they can sustain family unity.

COMPANY HISTORY

Gwendolyn Mastin, founder of Chicago's first scattered-site housing program,  launched the New Phoenix Assistance Center in 1991 to provide transitional housing and support services for women in the Greater Chicago area who are homeless and may be infected with or affected by HIV or AIDS.

Gwendolyn Mastin also developed a pregnancy prevention initiative for teens that embraces cultural traditions and encourages creation of family support networks.

The center has served more than 5,700 people and counting, since it was founded.
